AIT to Celebrate World Environment Day
AIT, on June 4, 2004 will celebrate the World Environment Day with various activities that includes a campus environment walk, tree planting, exhibition and panel debate respectively.
8:00 a.m.: Campus Environmental Walk
Participants are advised to assemble at 7:45 a.m. at one of the following starting locations. For G1 group, please assemble at the back of the Extension building where Dr. Ranjith will be in-charge. For G2 group, please assemble in front of the Community School building where Dr. Padam will be in-charge. For G3 group, please assemble at the car park area at the back of ST4 where Dr. Tien will be in-charge.
Walk Directions:
For walk directions please refer to the map (above) and the following directions: G1 will start from the back of the Extension Building along the main road in front of CS & IM, TC, AFE and ISE building up to the intersection between SOM building and ST1. Group 1 will turn left and walk until the next intersection between Dorm L and SV-3. Group 1 will join Group 2 and 3 at this intersection.
G2 will start from the Community School Building along the inner road of the West klong and right-turn to the walk way of Dorm T and W up to the intersection between dorm P and Q. Group 2 will join the Group 3 at this intersection.
G3 will start from the car parking at the back of ST4 along the main road leading to the intersection between ST8 and ST12 and right-turn to the walk way leading to intersection between dorm P and Q. Group 3 will join Group 2 at this intersection and continue to next intersection between Dorm L and SV-3.
After joining at the intersection between Dorm L and SV-3, the three Groups will follow the main road to the intersection between tennis courts and the demolished pump station and right-turn to follow the main road until the intersection leading to the AIT Administration Building. The walk will be ended at the area near the former golf course.
9:30 a.m.: Tree plantation at AIT Arboretum Project (former Golf Course)
10:45 a.m.: Exhibition in the theme of ‘Seas and Oceans, Dead or Alive’ at the AIT Conference Center Lobby. The exhibition will be opened by AIT and UNEP simultaneously with a painting contest.
11:00 a.m.: An inspirational presentation of the environment at AIT Conference Center (Room B108 ) The presentation will be addressed by UNEP.
11:20 a.m.: Panel debate at AIT Conference Center (Room B108). The debate will be comprised of representatives from UNEP, IUCN, ION, AIT/AITCZM and SU.
12:00: Prize presentation to painting contest winners and handing of tokens of appreciation to panelists. This will be followed by lunch at the AIT Conference Center.
