The MoU will encourage the two bodies to cooperate not only on exchanging knowledge and expertise on sustainable development and the implementation of the SDGs, but also on jointly identifying innovative solutions to address development challenges and engaging in programmatic interventions to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and other national development goals.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Renaud Meyer, Resident Representative of UNDP in Thailand said “Science, research, and innovation are key engines for tackling the complexity of today’s challenges and making faster progress on the Sustainable Development Goals. With this, UNDP is delighted to partner with AIT to accelerate SDGs progress through actively engaging the academic institutions and development actors in Thailand to align their activities with sustainable development, while also ensuring the exchange of knowledge and experience on SDGs related work and issues.”

AIT President, Dr. Eden Woon, said, “AIT is honored to work with UNDP on their effort to achieve the SDGs in Thailand through joint capacity building, research, and consulting assignments to implement and facilitate their development interventions as envisaged under the Country Programme Document (2022-2026).  AIT also encourages its students to get involved in social entrepreneurship and innovation in line with its emphasis on supporting the SDGs, pursuing sustainable development initiatives, and will engage them in relevant activities that AIT-UNDP might undertake.”

The signing of the MoU between UNDP and AIT is a crucial step towards long-term collaboration between the two entities in facilitating interactions with other academic institutions and development actors in Thailand and beyond to exchange knowledge and experience on SDGs related work and issues with a view to accelerating Thailand’s progress towards achieving the SDGs.
