AIT signs MoU with Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) for mutual cooperation

Bangkok, April 28: Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research(TISTR) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop partnership activities in line with their current mission and objectives.

The partnership activities include developing knowledge products, exchange, transfer activities, international training programs, seminars/forums, workshops, etc. These will enhance the visibility of both parties in terms of being vital global players and influencers on technological innovation, R&D, and advanced knowledge development. Furthermore, to expand the networks and association with partners and businesses to support and organize knowledge transfer activities at regional and international levels, including Mekong Sub-region, ASEAN region, and others.

President Woon welcomed the Governor and delegates from TISTR and highlighted the importance of this partnership, saying, “AIT and TISTR do similar work, and the signing of this MoU will pave the way for doing many different types of activities together.”

Governor Dr. Chutima said AIT and TISTR are located near each other and invited AIT executives to visit their facilities. She said there are many government and research organizations in their compound. AIT and TISTR both have the Science and Technology Park status given by BOI Thailand. She mentioned many SMEs benefited from opening businesses inside TISTR, and with this collaboration, these SMEs can further enhance their technology through AIT’s expertise.

Governor expressed interest in joining hands to do capacity-building programs, and to that point, President Woon highlighted the AIT Extensions’ expertise that can fulfill their demands.

From AIT, President Woon and AIT Extension Director Dr. Christopher Garnier signed the MoU, and from TISTR, Governor Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit and Deputy Governor Industrial Services, Dr. Pattra Maneesin inked this partnership in the presence of several officials from TISTR and AIT.
