June 21st, 2022 — Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has successfully installed water heating systems and enhanced air-conditioning capabilities in over 70% of student housing units. Furthermore, all campus accommodations are now equipped with a modern enhanced Wireless Fidelity (WIFI) system — ensuring students a more comfortable campus life.
On June 24th, 2022, AIT organized the “AIT New WIFI System Inauguration Ceremony” at student accommodation Dorm N entrance to announce the completion of the WIFI FTTH upgrade for internet access in all AIT accommodation units. With this upgrade, each room is equipped with the latest WIFI 6 routers with fast internet speed and modern fiber stream.

AIT President Dr. Eden Woon cited that the institute has always emphasized students’ needs. He highlighted that AIT is ensuring students are the focus of attention, and the fundamental to this is that they enjoy a comfortable environment.
In support, Vice President for Administration (VPA) Mr. Russell Rein said these infrastructure upgrades are what we have been working on. In addition, it is quite a radical change for AIT. The VPA also urged, “I am looking forward to receiving the feedback regarding the new experience students have.”
This month AIT has also launched a newly revamped website (www.ait.ac.th) to overcome many issues with the old website. Problems in the old website, such as scattered information in multiple domains causing navigation and search function difficulties, missing AIT Centers’ information, missing people information, unsynchronized information between the main AIT and its school websites, and old traditional look were all addressed in this new website.

The new website also features the “Campus Life” section, highlighting important information about AIT facilities for prospective students that were previously missing. With the new advanced search filters added to academic programs and financial aid, prospective students can now easily find program options they want to study and scholarships available based on their nationalities and chosen study options.
In addition, every news, event, and research activity that AIT does can now be categorized into the relevant thematic areas and UN SDG goals. This feature makes it easier for website visitors to see the work carried out by AIT in various areas in a systematically categorized section.
Through these improvements, AIT vows to continue the work centered on the experience of our students.
