AIT Visit to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thailand

AIT Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Suwit Khunkitti, and AIT President Professor Kazuo Yamamoto met with Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 11 October 2022.

It was the first visit of Professor Yamamoto to the Ministry after having taken up the AIT President position, and Mr. Sarun congratulated Professor Yamamoto on his appointment. Dr. Suwit and Professor Yamamoto reported on some of the recent developments at AIT, ways in which the cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could be further enhanced, and an important platform that AIT can provide as a neutral and international platform for dialogue and cooperation on regional issues. They expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Government of Thailand for its strong and continued support of AIT. Mr. Sarun referred to AIT as being a pride of Thailand and expressed his wish to see AIT grow and become more recognized. He assured AIT of the Ministry’s continued support into the future and proposed a number of ways in which AIT could leverage its unique position.

Mr. Phuchphop Mongkolnavin, Deputy Director-General, Department of International Organizations; Ms. Chamsai Menasveta, Director of International Organizations, Administrative Affairs Division, Department of International Organizations and Mr. Theerawee Guradetphop, Second Secretary, International Organizations Administrative Affairs Division, Department of International Organizations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Karma Rana, Institute Secretary and Secretary to the Board of Trustees and Ms. Chalita Lertwinyu, Director, Office of Thailand Affairs from AIT also took part in the meeting.
