AIT and Kathmandu University (KU) renewed the MoU on 27th Nov. 2022 to capitalize on the continued goodwill between the two institutions and the sincere intention of each party to work together for the betterment of Nepal and the region.

The activities under the scope of this MoU are, but not limited to:
- 2-stage master’s program, including dual degree programs, in mechatronics, energy (hydropower and bio-based energy), and computer engineering and other areas when deemed necessary
- KU graduate students visiting AIT for part of their coursework and/or research
- Internship / teaching experience for graduate students at KU and AIT
- Short-term in-service and pre-service training courses
- Joint proposal development for seeking funds from funding agencies in order to strengthen capacity of teaching/research of both the institutions
Kathmandu University delegates included Prof. Bhola Thapa Vice Chancelor, Prof. Achyut Wagle Registrar and Dr. Uddab Pyakurel, Acting Director, Global Engagement Division, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Kathmandu University.

AIT delegates included Dr. Subin Pinkayan, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto – President, Prof. Shobhakar Dhakal – Vice President of Academic Affairs and Karma Rana – Institute Secretary.
