AIT President Professor Kazuo Yamamoto visited the Chitralada Technology Institute (CDTI) on 9 November 2022 and met with the CDTI President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khunying Sumonta Promboon and members of her team.
Khunying Sumonta congratulated Prof. Yamamoto on his appointment as President and accorded him and the AIT delegation a warm welcome. She mentioned that AIT and CDTI both share the word “Technology” and have worked very closely. The CDTI was established in 2018 by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to expand more educational opportunities in vocational and undergraduate levels and introduce the royal initiative concept: “Study and Work – Work and Study” as well as foster students with professional skills, disciplines and ethics.
AIT and CDTI signed an MOU in 2018 with the aim of initiating cooperation in the fields of education as well as rural development. As part of the MOU AIT has been working with CDTI to help develop human resources for CDTI. Several of their staff have studied at AIT and two are currently doing their Ph.D. i.e. Ms. Latchaporn Thumteerasathien, CDTI Faculty Member, Faculty of Business Administration, and Assistant Prof. Panet Serirungsun, Faculty of Business Administration.
Prof. Yamamoto thanked President Khunying Sumonta and CDTI for the invitation to visit and expressed his admiration of the work carried out by CDTI focusing on key subject areas in bachelors and also vocational studies. He viewed the cooperation between AIT and CDTI as very synergistic and expressed his keen wish to further enhance the collaboration between the two institutions.
Following the meeting, Khunying Sumonta accompanied President Yamamoto on a tour of the CDTI facilities which included a brief interaction with the students as well.
