14 Dec 2022- Special Degree Program (SDP) organised the visit of delegates from the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) to AIT. They met with President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Vice President Knowledge Transfer, Dean SET, Director- SDP, Executive Director of AIT Extension and Director-OIA.

The delegations included 26 CPSC members from Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Papua New Guinea. The purpose of the visit was to understand AIT for future networking and collaboration, to understand AIT’s focus on Digital Education & 4IR skills laboratory, and tour the facilities. The delegates also visited the water, hydraulics lab, remote sensing and GIS lab.
Prof Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President, expressed AIT’s willingness to collaborate and support with the required expertise. He said that this discussion will be helpful in leading towards the desired path.
Prof. Ganemulle Lekamalage Dharmasri Wickramasinghe, Director of CPSC indicated confidence that both CPSC and AIT will have many areas of mutual interest and collaboration. He said, “We can use AITs expertise and network and vice versa to achieve our common goal for supporting vocational training and also IT skills which are core to 4IR ”.
About CPSC
The Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) is an autonomous specialized agency of the Colombo Plan. It was established on December 5, 1973 and became operational in 1974 with the Republic of Singapore serving as the first host Government. In January 1987, CPSC moved to Manila, Philippines upon the invitation of the Philippine Government. CPSC was founded by 26 countries who collectively agreed that a regional center for technical education and training needed to be established to assist countries in the Colombo Plan region in this area. The said countries cooperated under south-south cooperation which has been the principal framework for CPSC’s programs and activities from its inception until now.
Currently, CPSC has 26 member countries classified as charter and current members. There are sixteen (16) active member countries, twelve (12) charter member countries
