AIT and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) Discuss Mutual Collaboration

19 June 2023 – AIT President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto met with Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) at TICA headquarters. During the meeting, the Director-General expressed TICA’s commitment to closer collaboration with AIT, highlighting shared focus areas such as agricultural development, climate change, and sustainable development. Professor Yamamoto discussed AIT’s ongoing efforts to develop tailored and demand-driven academic content that contributes to regional development and aligns with TICA’s capacity-building goals.

The meeting also explored potential collaborations with mutual partners like the Rockefeller Foundation. Ideas to enhance synergies included coordinating scholarships offered by TICA and AIT, joint implementation of development projects, and capacity-building initiatives in partner countries. The engagement of AIT in TICA-organized events, such as the TICA Connect, was also discussed. Representatives from various TICA departments attended the meeting, alongside Ms. Chalita Lertwinyu, Director of the Office of Thailand Affairs, and Mr. Karma Rana, Institute Secretary, from AIT.
