16 June 2023 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on 16 June between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangchak Corporation, Plc., and C-Quester Co., Ltd. This agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge about products and technologies and foster joint collaborative research on the business model in various domains, including Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and related fields.

Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President; Ms. Kanthamat Kritayanukul, Executive Vice President, Refinery and Logistics Business, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited; and Dr. Clément Cid, Chief Executive Officer, US-based C-Quester Incorporated signed the MoU, while Dr. Ekbordin Winijkul, Head, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change, AIT; Ms.Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President, Corporate Branding, Communication and Sustainability Activation, Bangchak Corporation; and Dr. Alan Gu, Chief Technology Officer, C-Quester Inc. signed as witnesses.
Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto emphasized the urgency to address the harmful effects of greenhouse gas emissions and stressed the need for innovative solutions. He expressed the commitment of AIT to collaborate closely and share knowledge, resources, and technologies to accelerate the development and deployment of carbon capture solutions. He also highlighted AIT’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2030 under our new Botanical Garden Campus Towards Net Zero initiative.

Prof. Yamamoto expressed his contentment with this collaboration, emphasizing its significance in collective efforts toward Bangchak’s Net Zero Roadmap and combating climate change. “Together, we can make a lasting impact on our planet’s health and future generations’ well-being,” he added.
Stating that the joint endeavors among Bangchak, AIT, and C-Quester will facilitate extensive research and exploration of carbon capture technologies while also leveraging potential business opportunities for all, Ms. Kanthamat Kritayanukul said, “This partnership will greatly enhance Bangchak’s ability to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and successfully achieve our goals in addressing climate change.”
The signing ceremony was also attended by Mr. Thamarat Paryoonsuk, Senior Executive Vice President, Refinery Business Group and Mr. Anekpracha Kaewmanee, Vice President, Refinery Strategic and Business Development from Bangchak Corporation Plc. From AIT, Ms. Chalita Lertwinyu, Director, Office of Thailand Affairs; Mr. Karma Rana, Institute Secretary and Mr. Shawn Kelly, Executive Director, Office of International and Public Affairs, were also present.
