9 June 2023 – The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and AAPICO Hitech Public Company Limited (AAPICO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 9th June 2023, between AIT President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Mr. Yeap Swee Chuan, President and Chief Executive Officer and Mrs. Teo Lee Ngo, Executive Director from AAPICO at AIT campus. The signing ceremony was graced by His Excellency Datuk Jojie Samuel, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Thailand and Member of AIT Board of Trustees.
The purpose of this MoU is to strengthen the collaboration between AIT and AAPICO in relation to AAPICO sponsoring three named full scholarships for two-year master’s degree program in the School of Engineering & Technology (SET), either in Department of Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE), Department of Information Communications and Technologies (preferably in Data Science & AI, IoT programs) or School of Management in Business Analytic & Digital Transformation program for a total of three academically qualified AIT students (any nationality). AAPICO scholarship will be provided to one student per year (THB 1 million per student) starting from August 2023 intake.
Executive Director, Office of Advancement & Alumni Affairs, Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe gave his welcome remarks and thanked His Excellency Datuk Jojie Samuel in connecting AIT with one of the leading companies in Thailand, AAPICO Hitech PCL. Mr. Sanjeev further stated that he was pleased to witness the signing of this MoU which will no doubt further strengthen the relationship between the two esteemed organizations.
AIT President, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto expressed his sincere appreciation and thanked Mr. Yeap for his kind support in proving the prestigious AAPICO scholarships with job offers for AIT students. He further stated that AIT needs to expand its linkages with industry in providing similar scholarships as this is a testament to AIT offering curriculum that meets industry’s needs. Prof. Yamamoto further acknowledged His Excellency Datuk Jojie Samuel role in introducing AAPICO to AIT and for facilitating the collaboration.
AAPICO President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yeap Swee Chuan expressed his sincere thanks to His Excellency’s guidance in introducing AIT to AAPICO and it is his honor to be present at the MoU signing ceremony. Mr. Yeap emphasized the importance of education and trusted that AIT will provide good trainings and developments of the human resource capabilities. He looks forward to continuing AAPICO scholarships in the future.
Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Thailand and Member of AIT Board of Trustees, His Excellency Datuk Jojie Samuel congratulated AIT and AAPICO on this milestone MoU signing. His Excellency were glad to connect Mr. Yeap Swee Chuan with AIT since he is one of the most prominent Malaysian entrepreneur in Bangkok and this is just the beginning and he foresees a long term relationship between AAPICO and AIT. Lastly, His Excellency stated through this collaboration, more industry will join hands with AIT to provide similar support that could be a win-win partnership.
