New Appointments on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee

The AIT Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of new members to both the Board and the Executive Committee. Dr. Anat Arbhabhirama, the Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees, extends a warm welcome to the newly appointed members and looks forward to working closely with them and to their valuable contributions to the Institute.

Board of Trustees

H.E. Mr. Hun Saroeun, Ambassador of Cambodia

Ambassador Hun Saroeun served as Under Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA.IC) prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Cambodia to Thailand. Earlier he was the Director-General of General Department of Asia-Pacific and Deputy Spokesperson, MFA.IC. He received his Master of Public and Private Management (MPPM) from the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Thailand and also has a Master of Law and Political Science, Build Bright University

, Cambodia. In addition, Ambassador Hun Saroeun holds a Certificate of Advanced Master of Management (AMM) from NIDA, Certificate of Foreign Affairs Executive Program (Batch 6), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand and Certificate of Media Management Agency, American University of Phnom Penh.

H.E. Mr. Khamphan Anlavan, Ambassador of Lao

Ambassador Khamphan Anlavan served as the Ambassador to the United State of America and Canada prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Thailand. He has held several key positions with the Government having served as Chief of Cabinet, Committee for External Relations of the Lao PR Party Central Committee, Director-General of Party Affairs, then Director- General of Europe and America Department, Committee for External Relations of the Lao PR Party Central Committee and Ambassador to Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. Ambassador Khamphan Anlavan graduated from Canberra College of Advanced Education (CCAE) in Canberra,

Australia and received his Master’s Degree from Moscow Institute of International Relations, MGIMO, Soviet Union. Among his other educational records include pursuing studies at Political Theories and Administration, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Hanoi, Vietnam, Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, College of Security Studies Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, Formation En Politique Publique, École Nationale d’Administration (ENA) Paris, France and Market Economy, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand and Political Theories and Administration, Institute of International Relations, MOFA, Lao PDR.

H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa, Ambassador of Mongolia

Ambassador Tumur Amarsanaa served as Director General, Department of International Law, and Treaty, Department of International Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to joining as Ambassador to Thailand. He earlier served as Director General, Law and Treaty Department, Ministry of  Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia, Second Secretary, Embassy and Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the UNODC, IAEA, CTBTO, OSCE, UNCITRAL and other International

Organizations based in in Vienna and also as  Associate professor, School of Law, National University of Mongolia. Ambassador Tumur Amarsanaa received his Master of laws/LLM, from the School of Law, Kyushu University of Japan and Bachelor of Law/International Lawyer, School of law, National University of Mongolia. He is a Member of the Mongolian Bar Association, Certified lawyer, Member of the International Law Association of Mongolia, Member of the Cooperation Council on Combating, Money-Laundering and Terrorism Financing.  Ambassador Tumur Amarsanaa has more than 20 publications and articles.

Dr. Sarasin Viraphol

Dr. Sarasin Viraphol is the Executive Vice President of  Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), a Thai transnational company.  CP Group’s core businesses comprise of agro-industry and food, retail and merchandising, and  telecommunications.  Prior to joining the private sector in 1996, Dr. Sarasin served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for twenty years between 1976-1996  having served overseas  in China and Japan, and the Philippines (as Ambassador) and at home (as Deputy Permanent Secretary). Between 1968 and

1976, Dr. Sarasin taught  at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Political Science as an Assistant Professor.  Dr. Sarasin received his PhD in 1974 in East Asian languages and history from Harvard University. 

Dr. Phasin Suebsubanunt

Dr. Phasin is the Chairman, President Global Medical Company Limited, Chairman of Risk Management and Director, Thai National Product Company Limited and Executive Director, Smart Station Company Limited and is managing an investment company in Europe. He is also the Vice President of the Asia Pacific Chamber of Commerce in Republic of Croatia. He completed the best academic performance in Master of Business Administration (MBA) from AIT and Doctoral of Business Administration at Brunel

University (West London), the United Kingdom. He has been working extensively in both local and international banks for more than 30 years in Thailand and aboard. He had played a major role as the Vice President, Head of Capital Market – ABN AMRO Bank and lead managing USD 1 billion loan syndication with ADB guarantee and the USD 300 million global bond with World Bank guarantee in which both transactions had achieved in revitalizing Thailand out from 1997 financial crisis. Dr. Phasin has also been engaged with a number of Thai Government bodies in various capacities such as Sub-Committee member for Economy, Commerce and Industry of the Senator of the Thai House of Parliament and Advisor to the Minister to the Prime Minister Office on Electricity Policy among other assignment. He had also been an adjunct faculty for AIT, Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University.


Executive Committee

Ms. Chanagarn Watanantachai

Ms. Chanagarn is the Assistant Vice President – Property Management Department, Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited (Bangkok, Thailand). She has been with Bangkok Bank since 2007 starting as Relationship Officer – Special Asset Management, then as Senior Relationship Officer – Special Asset Management, and Specialist – Property Management Department. Prior to that she worked as a Project Engineer with the T.Suwanchai 1995 Co.,Ltd. (Bangkok, Thailand). Ms. Chanagarn completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Civil

Engineering from the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Bangkok, Thailand) and Master of Engineering in Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Management from AIT.
