Asian Institute of Technology and Dhurakij Pundit University Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic Collaboration

20 July 2023 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) on 20 July to foster cooperation and collaboration between the two esteemed institutions. 

The MoU outlines various initiatives to enhance the academic landscape in Thailand and beyond, including developing a Unified Bachelor’s – Master’s Degree Program, joint conferences, faculty capacity building, student mobility programs, training, and research activities.

Under the MoU, both AIT and DPU will focus on key areas, such as the establishment of an International Unified Bachelor’s – Master’s Degree Program, the enhancement of faculty and staff capacity, joint academic program development, and coordination in collaborative research projects, conferences, workshops, and seminars.

DPU President, Dr. Darika Lathapipat, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration and acknowledged the significance of this partnership. She emphasized the common goal of both institutions to strengthen the academic landscape in Thailand and contribute to the nation’s sustainable development.

AIT President, Professor. Kazuo Yamamoto spoke about the milestone the event represents for future collaborations. He highlighted the intention to attract more students from Thailand and neighboring countries to the innovative Unified Bachelor’s – Master’s Degree Program. “This collaboration will produce high-quality graduates in technology and digital business-related fields, contributing to Thailand’s development and sustainable growth and fostering cultural, social, and economic linkages between Thailand and neighboring countries,” he said.

The event was attended by key representatives from DPU, including Dr. Siridech Kumsuprom, Assistant VP, Strategic Alliance;   Dr. Paitaya Meesat, Director, International Relations; Dr. Varis Limlawan, Deputy Dean, International College; Ms. Nitika Bhardwaj, Deputy Dean, International College; Mr. Natthaphong Luangnaruedom, Head of Information Systems for Digital Business; Assoc. Prof Tawatchai  Ngamsongtiwong, Advisor to Head of Program; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchai Prakancharoen, Advisor to the Head of the Program; Mr. Atit Koirala, Director, Strategic Alliance and Mr. Perapon Buranamontri, Lecturer. 

From AIT, the attendees included Prof. Sangam Shrestha, Dean School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Prof. Nitin K Tripathi, Director, of Special Degree Program (SDP); Prof. Weerakorn Ongsakul, School of Environment Resources and Development (SERD); Mr. Arthur Lance Gonzales, SDP; Mr. Ranadheer Madadi, SDP and Mr. Samuch Oupla, Office of Thailand Affairs (OTA).

This MoU marks an important step towards strengthening academic ties between AIT and DPU and signifies their commitment to promoting innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable development in the region.
