Asian Institute of Technology and University at Buffalo Sign MoU for Collaborative Academic Partnership

10 July 2023 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand and the University at Buffalo (UB) in the United States of America on 10 July. This MoU aims to facilitate collaboration between AIT and UB in various areas, including the development of a Dual Master’s Degree Program, Unified Programs with UB Singapore Campus, short-term student mobility programs, and research activities. For each of these activities separate MoA will be developed.

Professor Kazuo Yamamoto, President of AIT, expressed his delight in engaging in such valuable cooperation. He highlighted that this collaboration comes at a good time as AIT prepares for academic transformation. He looks forward to strengthening the partnership and achieving enhanced synergy. Together, they aim to explore various areas of collaboration and progress, fostering mutual growth.

Professor Satish K Tripathi, President of the University at Buffalo, USA, stated that they anticipate good progress as they embark on this journey together. He emphasized the importance of ongoing discussions to achieve their shared vision. He encouraged continued dialogue and involvement of faculties to strengthen the partnership.

The delegation from UB also included Dr. Nojin Kwak, Vice Provost for International Education, and Dr. Joseph Hindrawan, Associate Vice Provost for Overseas Programs and Partnerships.

Present at the meeting from AIT were Prof. Abdul P. Salam, Dean of the School of Environment Resources and Development (SERD); Prof. Sangam Shrestha, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Dr. Kamonkanok Kiatisakchai, Assistant Dean of the School of Management (SOM); Professor Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Director of Special Degree Programs (SDP); Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director of International Affairs of the Office of International and Public Affairs (OIPA); Mr. Sanjeet Amatya, Director of Public Affairs, OIPA; and Mr. Ranadheer Mandadi and Arthur Lance Gonzales, Program Officers of SDP.

The State University of New York at Buffalo, commonly called the University at Buffalo (UB) and sometimes called SUNY Buffalo, is a public research university with campuses in Buffalo and Amherst, New York, United States. The university was founded in 1846 as a private medical college and merged with the State University of New York system in 1962. It is one of the two flagship institutions of the SUNY system. As of fall 2020, the university enrolled 32,347 students in 13 schools and colleges, making it the largest and most comprehensive public university in the state of New York.
