Transforming Education Together: AIT and Srinakharinwirot University Sign MoU for Sustainable Development and Global Impact

14 July 2023 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) on 14 July 2023. The MoU aims to establish joint academic development for Unified and Dual Master’s Degree Programs, Dual Doctoral Degree Programs, and educational and research activities. Detailed specifics of the areas of collaboration will be outlined in a subsequent Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).

Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, President of AIT, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and emphasized its significance in developing highly qualified and dedicated professionals who will lead in fostering sustainable development within the region and its integration into the global economy. He highlighted that entering this MoU, we affirm our commitment to collaborating and sharing knowledge, resources, and technologies to accelerate the mission of transforming higher education not only in Thailand but also in the region – through collaborative international higher education programs.

Assoc. Prof. Somchai Santiwatanakul, President of SWU, mentioned that it is a great honor for them to commence this journey of mutual cooperation, knowledge exchange, and shared aspirations. The partnership signifies the commitment to advance education, research, and innovation. “We firmly believe that the collaboration between SWU and AIT will leverage their respective strengths and expertise to create a profound and enduring impact on society,” he added.

The meeting saw the presence of key representatives from AIT, including Prof. Sangam Shrestha, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Dr. Sarawut Ninsawat, Department Head of ICT and Associate Professor at RSGIS/SET; Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Director of Special Degree Programs (SDP); Dr. Chitrini Mozumder, Research Specialist, and Affiliated Faculty at RSGIS/SET; as well as Mr. Samuch Oupala, Manager of the Office of Thailand Affairs (OTA).

On the other side, SWU was represented by distinguished individuals, including Assoc. Prof. Poom Moolsilpa, S.J.D., Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Asst. Prof. Tannikarn Soonsinpai, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and International Relations; Asst. Prof. Prapaporn Rojsiriruch, Vice Dean for Social Planning and Strategy; Asst. Prof. Chomchanok Arunplod, Head of the Geography Department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Meksangsouy, Program Chair of the Graduate Study; Asst. Prof. Assamaporn Sitthi, Program Secretary of the Undergraduate Study; Dr. Wuttichai Boonpook, Secretary of the Geography Department; and Dr. Sutatip Chavanavesskul, Lecturer in Geography.
