4 August 2023 – The Asian Institute of Technology and Phnom Penh International University (PPIU), Cambodia, recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for Staff Qualification Upgrade (QU) under the Higher Education Improvement Project – HEIP, funded by the Government of Cambodia and World Bank.

The objective of this MoA is to define the roles, responsibilities, and operational guidelines for facilitating the participation of PPIU staff in Master’s degree programs at AIT. Furthermore, the agreement seeks to support the implementation of the PPIU capacity-building plan.

Areas of cooperation between AIT and PPIU encompass the enrollment of two PPIU staff to study Master’s degree program in the ICT Department’s Computer Science Program at the School of Engineering and Technology (SET). This initiative is part of the “Staff Qualification Upgrade (QU) – Higher Education Improvement Project (HEIP), Cambodia,” and has been undertaken with mutual consent.

Two PPIU staff have already embarked on their Master’s degree journey in the August 2023 semester. It is expected that more PPIU scholars will enroll in both Master’s and doctoral degree programs offered by AIT in the coming years.

This partnership was facilitated by the International Affairs of the Office of International and Public Affairs, the Computer Science program/ICT Department, the School of Engineering and Technology, and the Student’s Office from the AIT side.

Notably, the MoU with PPIU, Cambodia, was also renewed earlier this year in March, reaffirming the commitment to fostering educational excellence and international collaboration.
