10 August 2023 – The AIT Board of Trustees convened at the AIT campus under the chairmanship of Dr. Anat Arbhabhirama. The meeting encompassed a diverse range of topics, including an Executive Committee report, the presentation of the “Blueprint for the Future Direction of AIT” by Dr. Suwit Khunkitti, Chair of the AIT Strategy Task Force, updates from the Presidential Search Committee (PSC), the introduction of the Academic & Accounting Consolidation Action Plan (2024-2026) by AIT Interim President Professor Kazuo Yamamoto, and innovative initiatives such as the School of Practice, advancements towards a Net Zero Botanical Garden Campus, and strategic progress in Smart Administration, finance, and audit.

During the meeting, the Board endorsed the “Blueprint for the Future Direction of AIT” and recommended further steps to develop implementation details, appointing an implementation task force chaired by Dr. Suwit for this purpose. Additionally, the Board approved the “Academic and Accounting Consolidation (AAC) Action Plan 2024-2026,” recognizing it as a transitional plan and expressing support for its execution.
Dr. Anat, who leads the Presidential Search Committee (PSC), provided a status update on the committee’s efforts to identify potential candidates for the President Position. The PSC aims to present the final candidate to the Board during the January 2024 meeting, ensuring a smooth leadership transition.
Furthermore, the Board granted an extension of Professor Kazuo Yamamoto’s term as AIT’s Interim President for an additional year, extending his tenure until August 31, 2024. This extension acknowledges Professor Yamamoto’s significant contributions and allows him to oversee and advance ongoing key initiatives.
A special note of recognition was given to newly appointed members of the Board: H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to Thailand; H.E. Mr. Khamphan Anlavan, Ambassador of Laos; H.E. Mr. Saroeun Hun, Ambassador of Cambodia; and Dr. Sarasin Viraphol, Executive Vice President of Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) and Former Ambassador.
