AIT School of Engineering and Technology and Colorado State University Forge Stronger Collaboration for Dual MS Degree Program

August 9, 2023 – A significant step toward enhancing educational cooperation and fostering impactful collaborations was taken on August 9, 2023, as representatives from AIT School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and Colorado State University (CSU) convened for a crucial meeting. The meeting aimed to discuss various aspects of the partnership, including the Dual MS Degree Program, potential collaborations within AIT’s Global Water and Sanitation Center (GWSC) and opportunities for an extended stay program for visiting faculty.

The meeting, held at the SET Lounge, was attended by esteemed representatives from both institutions. From Colorado State University, Prof. David Mclean, Emeritus Dean & Professor, and Prof. Kenneth Reardon, Interim Dean & Professor, both from the College of Engineering, participated. AIT SET was represented by Prof. Sangam Shrestha, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology and Co-Director of the Global Water & Sanitation Center, Dr. Geoff Chao, Head of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Prof. Huynh Trung Luong, Head of Industrial Systems Engineering, and Ms. Amalia Canullas, Assistant to the Dean of SET.

Key areas of discussion during the meeting included the AIT-CSU Dual MS program, its successes, areas for improvement, and its overall sustainability. Three students from the Water Engineering and Management (WEM) program are anticipated to conclude their studies in August and December. Furthermore, a student from the Geotechnical and Earth Resources Engineering (GTE) program recently departed from AIT to CSU.

The meeting successfully reaffirmed the commitment of AIT SET and CSU to strengthened collaboration and a mutual determination to enhance further the academic experience and opportunities for students and faculty alike. This alliance continues to set a remarkable precedent for international educational partnerships, with the aim of shaping the future of engineering education and research on a global scale.
