26 August 2023: Participants from the Structural Engineering (STE) Program, School of Engineering and Technology made a strong display of their dedication to sustainability and their impressive skills at the Sustainability Expo, organized by the Office of Sustainable Campus at AIT from August 23 to August 25, 2023. This event, featuring both a Research Fair and a Hackathon, provided a platform for the STE teams to demonstrate their commitment to creating a positive environmental influence. The teams’ outstanding performance was evident as they claimed the top three positions among the six distinguished awards presented during the expo. We are incredibly proud of their achievement.
AIT SDG Research Fair Awards
1st Position – ‘Low-Carbon High-Performance Concrete’: The team received the Outstanding Sustainability Achievement Award for their groundbreaking research. Their innovative work promises to reshape the future of sustainable construction practices.
3rd Position – ‘Underwater Concrete using SCMs and AWA’: This team was recognized for their creative prowess in reducing emissions, earning them the title of the Most Innovative Solution for Emission Reduction. Their work signifies a significant step toward environmentally responsible construction.

2nd Position – ‘Pervious Concrete for Solving Water Ponding Problem on Pavement’: Acknowledged for their innovative approach to mitigating water-related challenges, this team received accolades for their creative problem-solving.
Notably, AIT’s innovative hacking idea also garnered praise from the Entrepreneur Center at AIT, securing the title of “The Most Innovative Solution“.
