20 September 2023 – The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) ‘s Office of Special Degree Programs (SDP) organized the two-week international internship program from 6-20 September 2023, aiming to expose students to various fields of study and specializations. It also underscores AIT’s enduring collaboration with the United Group of Institutions (UGI), which was established in 2009. The program brought together students from diverse academic backgrounds, including BTech (CSE), BTech (IT), BBA/MBA, Pharmacy, Computer Applications (BCA/MCA), Law, and Journalism, representing various UGI institutions located in Allahabad and Greater Noida, India.

Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Director of SDP, designed and established this student mobility program, which has operated since 2009. Themed “Ignite, Innovate, and Inspire,” the program aimed to expose undergraduate students to cutting-edge technologies through state-of-the-art seminars and hands-on sessions. The overarching objective of this camp is to help students discover their interests, foster creativity, and inspire them to become influential contributors to their communities while motivating them to pursue higher education.
The Innovation Education Camp featured a multi-disciplinary program that encompassed a wide range of cutting-edge topics. AIT faculty and guest lecturers conducted interactive sessions on emerging trends, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) data collection mapping and analysis with hands-on demo, IoT & Smart City, Space Science, Introduction to GIS, Brain Computer Interface (BCI), Winning by Design Thinking, Quantum GIS (QGIS) map making assignments, Social Business and OTOP (One Tambon One Product), Innovation and Project discussions, FinTech Evolution & Solutions: Digital Economy Advancements in Thailand, Geo Crowdsourcing and Data collection and mapping, Mobile Robotics Automation, Local-based Service & Augmented Reality, Leaderships Skills Development and International Relations Asian settings, Technology & Innovation Management, Professional Communication Skills Development, ChatGPT and Generative AI, Introduction and Scope of Nanotechnology, Career Talk, Digital Marketing, 3D Building Model and placing it on google map.

Furthermore, students had the chance to engage in a brief meet-and-greet with AIT President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, who also delivered a short address at the opening ceremony.
In addition to the academic learnings, students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse cultural and industry experiences through a series of engaging field trips. These excursions included exploring the enchanting wonders of Safari World and Marine Park, delving into the fascinating realm of the National Science Museum (NSM), and venturing into the vibrant urban life of Bangkok, visiting Asiatique and IconSiam. The students also enjoyed a rejuvenating visit to the pristine white sand beach of Jomtien in Chonburi.
Several hands-on sessions were designed to enhance student engagement through fun-filled activities like – Treasure Hunt using GNSS, UAV hands-on, and the Mini Innovation Project, where students try to solve various social problems and present them as a mini project.
