Dr. Naveed Anwar donates funds to support the renovation of Student Research Rooms in the Structural Engineering Program

14 September 2023 – Dr. Naveed Anwar, CEO of CSI Bangkok Co., Ltd and AIT alum (Graduated Masters 1988 and Doctoral 2004 in Structural Engineering) agreed to support the renovation of six student research rooms with modern facilities with the aim to enhance the quality of research conducted by the students in the Structural Engineering (STE) Program, School of Engineering & Technology (SET).  The grant agreement was signed on 14 September 2023 with AIT President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto and Dr. Naveed Anwar in AIT.

Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Executive Director, Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs welcomed all attendees. He stated that Dr. Naveed knows very well the student needs/priorities and thanked him for constantly giving back to AIT and acknowledged his contribution not only financially but in various academic and management capacities during his tenure in AIT.

AIT President, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto expressed his sincere thanks to Dr. Naveed for his continuous contribution and dedication to AIT.  President Yamamoto further stated that he appreciates his initiatives and this donation to renovate the student research rooms will help increase the quality and outcome of their research.

Vice President for Administration, Mr. Russell Rein stated that he is always amazed by Dr. Naveed’s generosity and eagerness in giving without hesitation. AIT is a very special place for people like him and thanked him for the support.

Dr. Chaitanya Krishna stated that Dr. Naveed being one of the Distinguished alumnus in Structural Engineering program has gone beyond the call of duty with his direct contribution towards scholarships, workshops and others that have provided the students more opportunity to study postgraduate studies in Structural Engineering. 

Dr. Naveed is honored by the kind words of appreciation and he stated that this grant will run for three years and this will be the first year of his contribution for the enhancement of the student facilities in the Structural Engineering (STE) Program.  He feels fortunate to be involved in teaching the courses in STE program and he will continue to support to expand this program.

Also attending the meeting were Ms. Lucena D. Talaid, Senior Alumni Affairs Officer and Ms. Amanda Townshend, Senior Advancement Officer, Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.
