16 October 2023 – The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) ‘s Office of Special Degree Programs (SDP) recently concluded its two-week International Internship Program for Business & Management, which took place from 1 to 15 October 2023. The program aimed to provide students with backgrounds in business and management exposure to various relevant topics and emerging trends in the field.

This time, the program welcomed students from several new partner institutions, including Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM) in Hyderabad, India; Roorkee Institute of Technology (RIT) in Uttarakhand, India; Russia University of Transportation (RUT) in Moscow, Russia; and JSS Science & Technology in Mysore, India. This initiative further strengthens AIT’s global network and collaborative efforts with various educational institutions.
Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Director of SDP, designed and established this student mobility program, which has operated since 2009. Themed “Ignite, Innovate, and Inspire,” the program aimed to expose undergraduate students to cutting-edge technologies through state-of-the-art seminars and hands-on sessions. The primary objective of this program is to help students explore their interests, develop and launch innovative ideas, become influential figures within their communities, and encourage them to pursue higher education.

The International Internship Program centered on Business and management, featuring interactive sessions on emerging trends, which were led by AIT faculty members and guest expert lecturers. Topics covered during the program included Leadership in International Relations, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Digital Marketing, ChatGPT and Generative AI for Business, Sustainable Business Case Studies, Technology & Innovation Management, Digital Transformation, Social Business and OTOP, Business Data Analytics using R Studio Software, Business Information Management, Geo Crowdsourcing for Business Database, and Fintech Evolution & Solutions for the Digital Economy in Thailand.
The students also had the opportunity to meet President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, who shared valuable insights and inspiration for their future endeavors. They also had the chance to interact with Dr. Sumana Shrestha, the Director of International Affairs of the Office of International and Public Affairs.
In addition to academic learning, students had the opportunity to gain cultural and industry exposure through various field trips. These included visits to Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) to explore their unique work-based curriculum, a visit to the CP Group, which owns and manages 12,000+ 7-Eleven stores, an exploration of Dhurakij Pundit University, a visit to the UNESCO Historical City Park of Ayutthaya, insights into the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) program at the OTOP Trader Center in Ayutthaya, experiences of Bangkok City life at Asiatique and IconSIAM, and an exciting shopping spree at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest open markets in the region.
