29 November 2023: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) recently concluded its international training and exposure visit on “Recent Advances in Tropical Aquaculture, Aquaculture Nutrition, and Feed Technology.” The program, held from November 8 to 21, 2023, was organized by the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management Program of the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (AARM/SERD) in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).

A total of 17 participants from 13 different universities in the Philippines and a representative from SEARCA actively engaged in the comprehensive training program. This initiative, spearheaded by the International Affairs Unit of the Office of International and Public Affairs, was a result of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Agreements (MoA) signed between AIT and SEARCA in May and October 2023, respectively.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director of International Affairs, emphasized the program’s significance as a valuable learning opportunity for attendees in the field of Aquaculture. Dr. Shrestha also expressed gratitude to SEARCA and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in the Philippines for their support, hinting at the prospect of more collaborative activities in the future.
