9 November 2023: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Beijing Information Science & Technology University (BISTU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining key areas of cooperation to bolster academic excellence and foster innovation. The MOU highlights several significant areas of collaboration, including collaborative research, faculty-led course development, training projects, student and staff exchanges, and the delivery of award and non-award courses.

Under the agreement, both institutions commit to facilitating joint educational programs and exploring opportunities for short-term exchanges between students and faculty members. The MOU underscores the shared commitment of AIT and BISTU to a sustainable and customized future in the evolving landscape of education.
AIT President, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, emphasized the institution’s dedication to holistic, tailored programs and a net-zero campus by 2030. “AIT envisions a comprehensive education approach through strategic management, technology integration, and design thinking. This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to a sustainable and customized future, where AIT and BISTU aim to address IT challenges, pioneer ideas, and establish international policy education,” he said.
Prof. Shijie YU, Vice President of BISTU, expressed optimism about the collaboration, citing AIT’s strengths in expertise, programs, and networking alongside BISTU’s robust engineering and leading economics and management school. The partnership promotes joint education, short-term student and faculty exchanges, and various collaborative projects. Prof. YU believes that this collaboration will create impactful initiatives and contribute to a shared and successful academic future.

The delegates from BISTU included Prof. Li QU, Director of the International Cooperation Department, and Prof. Jielin YIN, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management. From AIT, the meeting was also attended by Dr. Kamonkanok Kiatisakchai, Assistant Dean of the School of Management (SOM); Mr. Voravate Chonlasin, Executive Director, AIT Extension; Mr. Shawn Kelly, Executive Director of the Office of International and Public Affairs; Mr. Sanjeet Amatya, Director of Public Affairs; and Ms. Danielle Duan, Coordinator of International Affairs.
