8 January, 2024: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 8 January 2024. This partnership aims to strengthen ties between the two esteemed institutions, facilitating joint endeavors in academic, research, and faculty development domains.

The MoU aims to solidify the relationship between AIT and IITGN by facilitating joint initiatives such as developing Dual Doctoral and Master’s Degree Programs, joint academic programs, collaborative research projects, and organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences. Additionally, the agreement emphasizes staff/faculty development programs and short-term student mobility programs for education camps or internships.
Under the MOA, AIT and IITGN commit to implementing a double degree Doctoral Program based on the MoU for Academic Cooperation. The objectives of this agreement include offering double degree programs at the PhD level in key research areas, as outlined in the terms and conditions of the agreement.
The official signing ceremony took place in the presence of Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President, and Prof. Rajat Moona, Director of IITGN. Key stakeholders from both institutions expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the potential for significant advancements in academic exchange and research outcomes. The signing of the MoU and MoA marks a pivotal moment in the academic landscape, underscoring the commitment of AIT and IITGN to collaborate in advancing knowledge creation, fostering innovation, and nurturing the next generation of global leaders in science and technology.
