AIT Receives Support from Mr. Taweechai Termkunanon (HSD’79)

16 January 2024: Mr. Taweechai Termkunanon, an AIT alumnus who completed his Master’s in Human Settlements and Development in 1979, and served as the Former President of the AIT Alumni Association from 2022-2023, signed a donation agreement with AIT President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto. The donation aims to support the Alumni Scholarships, Student Exchange Programs, and School Laboratory Fund.  The generous contribution amounts to Thai Baht 500,000.

Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, the Executive Director of Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs expressed a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Taweechai for his generous support towards these initiatives that will greatly support and enhance students experience in AIT.

AIT President Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto extended his appreciation and kind thanks to Mr. Taweechai for his generous donation, and unwavering support towards AIT.  Prof. Yamamoto emphasized the significance of promoting this kind of support among alumni. He also mentioned that this year, AIT plans to launch several fundraising initiatives in collaboration with both the industry and alumni.

Mr. Taweechai mentioned that he believes it is essential to encourage alumni to contribute to AIT, starting with oneself.  He deeply appreciates the support he received from various sources which enabled him to pursue his studies.  He feels a strong sense of gratitude and a strong desire to give back.  He recognizes the significant need for support among many students, particularly those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Mr. Taweechai aims to motivate other alumni to help provide assistance to such deserving students.

Dr. Donald Ugsang, the current President of the AIT Alumni Association, Dr. Duminda Jayaranjan, President of the AITAA South East Asia Chapter, Ms. Lucena D. Talaid, Senior Alumni Affairs Officer of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs and Ms. Amanda Townshend, Senior Advancement Officer of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs were also present at the ceremony.
