8 January 2024: Ambassador Dr. Shambhu Ram Simkhada delivered a compelling seminar titled “Technology and Global Governance: The Relevance of Gandhi’s Philosophy for Contemporary International Relations.” The thought-provoking event took place on Monday, 8 January 2024 at the Milton Bendor Auditorium on the campus of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

Dr. Shambhu Ram Simkhada, former Permanent Representative to the UN and Ambassador to Switzerland, is a distinguished figure known for his significant contributions to international relations. His achievements include serving as the Chairman of the UN Human Rights Commission (now Council) and being a respected Freelance Consultant.

During the seminar, Ambassador Dr. Shambhu Ram Simkhada explored the intersection of technology and global governance, drawing connections to Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and its applicability in modern international relations. Ambassador Simkhada emphasized the relevance of Gandhi’s Philosophy in the modern world, sparking thought provoking discussion. His wealth of experience and expertise enriched the seminar, providing valuable insights into the intersection of technology, governance and Gandhian Philosophy. He also explained how the transformation in the foreign policies could be carried out by following the life of Mahatma Gandhi for positive relationships between international communities.

Following the presentation, students actively engaged with the topic, posing interesting and insightful questions, reflecting the seminar’s thought-provoking nature.
