AIT and Chitkara University Sign MoU for Academic and Research Collaboration

12 June 2024: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Chitkara University (CU), India, on 12 June 2024 to foster cooperation in academic, research, and training collaborations.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President, and Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University. Prof. Yamamoto stated, “At AIT, we are actively promoting sustainability issues, and this collaboration with CU marks another step in that direction. Recognizing the importance of international exposure, this partnership offers excellent opportunities for our faculty and students. We look forward to the positive outcomes from our ongoing training projects with CU.”

Dr. Chitkara added, “Collaborating with AIT, with its vibrant international community, will be mutually beneficial. We envision cultural and academic exchanges, including student exchanges, joint research, co-guidance, and shared learning experiences, fostering dynamic collaboration for research and development.”

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CU outlines a comprehensive range of collaborative activities. These include the development of capacity-building PhD degree programs, dual master’s degree programs, as well as an International Unified Bachelor-Master’s degree program. The MoU also encompasses the execution of international immersion programs, such as the “Unveiling Global Business Practices in Manufacturing, Trading & Services” and “INSIGHT (Igniting New Solutions, Growth, & Higher-level Thinking),” both conducted through AIT Extension. Additionally, it includes international training and exposure visits focusing on sustainability, specifically designed for management students, also facilitated by AIT Extension. The agreement further stipulates the exchange of faculty, staff, and students, the conduct of joint research projects, and the organization of joint conferences, workshops, and seminars. 

The Chitkara delegation included Dr. Amit Mittal, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research Programs); Sqn. Ldr. Dr. Rina Angel, Director of Administration (Punjab Campus); and Ms. Neetu Mehta, Director. The AIT attendees were Prof. Nitin K. Tripathi, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Abdul P. Salam, Dean of School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) Mr. Fazle Karim, Senior Advisor to Executive Director, AIT Extension; Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director of International Affairs, Office of International and Public Affairs; Mr. Anishur Rahman, Senior Program Officer, AIT Extension; and Mr. Kona Venkata Anantha Kiran, Program Officer, AIT Extension.
