New Academic Collaboration Established Between AIT and IIM Shillong with MoU Signing

28 June 2024: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 28 June 2024, between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong), India. The purpose of this MoU is to facilitate cooperation between AIT and IIM Shillong to promote academic and cultural exchanges through mutual assistance, particularly in the areas of teaching and research.

Prof. Nitin K. Tripathi, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs at AIT, expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership and conveyed confidence in the fruitful collaboration with IIM Shillong.

Dr. D.P. Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, remarked, “This collaboration opens many avenues for our students and faculty. We are eager to see the benefits unfold.”

The MoU covers activities such as developing International Dual Master’s and Doctoral degree programs, establishing a Study-trek program at AIT for IIM Shillong students, faculty and student exchanges, and conducting joint research projects by faculty and researchers. Moreover, the MoU encompasses participation in Summer/Winter programs, enrollment of students in regular degree programs, and internship opportunities for students. Additionally, it involves sharing resources such as library databases, journals, and online materials for the staff and students of each university.

Representing IIM Shillong were Prof. Naliniprabha Tripathy, Dean, External Relations Dr. Tedorlang Lyngdoh, Chair, External Relations. From AIT, Dr. Roger Levermore, Vice President for Development and Dean of School of Management (SOM); Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director, International Affairs, Office of International and Public Affairs (OIPA); Mr. Sanjeet Amatya, Director, Public Affairs, OIPA, and Mr. Zia Islam, Executive Assistant to Dean & Coordinator, Dean’s Office, SOM attended the event.
