The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) marked a significant milestone in international collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 2, 2024 at the UTA campus in Arlington Texas, USA. The MoU was signed by Professor Kazuo Yamamoto, President of AIT, and Dr. Tamara L. Brown, UTA CEO/Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, paving the way for exciting student academic exchange and dual master’s degree programs.

This strategic partnership between AIT and UTA signifies a commitment from both institutions to broaden educational horizons for students across continents. By fostering international student exchange and potentially exploring dual degree programs, this collaboration will equip students with invaluable global perspectives and a competitive edge in the international workforce.
UTA, a comprehensive public service institution renowned for its dedication to research and innovation, recognizes the unique value proposition of AIT. AIT, with its diverse student body representing over 50 countries, offers a rich multicultural experience that complements UTA’s commitment to inclusivity.
President Yamamoto expressed his gratitude to Dr. Tamara L. Brown and the UTA delegation for this collaborative effort, which strengthens AIT’s global reach and commitment to enriching student experiences. He acknowledges that this MoU is a testament to AIT’s dedication to academic excellence and professional development.
Dr. Tamara L. Brown highlighted the international dimension of the MoU, expressing her enthusiasm for the opportunities it presents for students seeking exchange programs at esteemed universities abroad. AIT’s diverse student body creates a vibrant international learning environment that complements UTA’s strengths.
Prof. Peter E. Crouch echoed Dr. Brown’s sentiments, emphasizing his excitement about the benefits this collaboration will offer students from both institutions. He eagerly anticipates the officialization of the student exchange program in 2025 as well as the signing of the MoA.
Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe further emphasized the institute’s commitment to swift action. He expressed his intention to maintain the momentum and finalize the details of the Memorandum of Action (MoA). He envisioned a phased implementation, starting with the College of Engineering at UTA in June 2025, with potential expansion to other graduate programs in the future.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished representatives from both universities, including Prof. Peter E. Crouch, Dean of the College of Engineering at UTA, Prof. Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Director of the Solid Waste Institute for Sustainability (SWIS) at UTA who was instrumental in facilitating this MoU, and Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Executive Director of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs at AIT.
