21 July 2024: In a remarkable stride toward enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability, Dr. Sushil Himanshu, Assistant Professor in the Agricultural Systems and Engineering program at the Department of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources (DFANR), has successfully organized a series of impactful training sessions in Thailand and Vietnam. Over 300 farmers and agricultural extension officers benefitted from these sessions, which introduced the innovative Agromet Forecasting App, ClimaFarm.

The ClimaFarm app, developed by Dr. Himanshu and his dedicated team, is a key component of the “Agro-meteorological Forecasts and Advisories through Mobile Application and Social Media for Climate-smart Agriculture in Thailand and Vietnam – AFAS” project. This initiative, generously supported by the Asian Development Bank, aims to equip the agricultural community with advanced forecasting tools and advisories to navigate climate challenges effectively.

Dr. Himanshu’s efforts have been instrumental in empowering local farmers and extension officers with cutting-edge technological tools, fostering a deeper understanding of climate-smart agricultural practices. This initiative underscores the commitment to integrating technology into agriculture, paving the way for a sustainable and resilient agricultural future.
