23 July 2024: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Royal Thai Police and 17 academic institutions in Thailand, including the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), to foster research and development in technological innovations on July 23, 2024.
Professor Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs at AIT, represented AIT at the event alongside representatives from 16 educational institutions. Police General Torsak Sukvimol, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, presided over the ceremony.

The MoU aims to establish a hub for ideation and the exchange of advanced technological innovations, including automation systems, robotics technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative focuses on disseminating knowledge and expertise in technology innovation to all members. It seeks to increase both the quantity and quality of research and innovation personnel, aligning with the national strategy to bolster competitiveness across various sectors such as production, services, society, and communities. The collaboration emphasizes supporting the collective utilization of tools and resource management for mutual benefit, fostering values, ethics, morality, and practice guidelines among all members. Additionally, it aims to establish connections and coordinate with similar organizations or networks, both domestically and internationally, and to create a comprehensive database of researchers in technological innovation among the members.
The institutions involved include Chulalongkorn University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Kasetsart University, Naresuan University, Prince of Songkla University, Burapha University, Chiang Mai University, Mahidol University, Thammasat University, AIT, The National Science and Technology Development Agency, The Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand, The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Rangsit University, and Bangkok University.
From AIT, the ceremony was attended by Ms. Chalita Lertwinyu, OTA Executive Director, and Ms. Nitjaree Wongluck, Administrative Officer.
