The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and East West University (EWU), Bangladesh, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in academics, research, and training.

This partnership aims to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, beginning with the School of Management (SOM) at AIT and the Faculty of Business and Economics at EWU. The collaboration will later expand to include AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and EWU’s Faculty of Science and Engineering.

AIT President, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, highlighted the significance of this partnership, noting that it reflects AIT’s dedication to developing professionals who lead in their fields. He also acknowledged Prof. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU and an AIT alumnus who earned his Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management in 1983, as a prime example of this commitment.

The groundwork for this MoU was laid by initial discussions between Prof. Shams and Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Executive Director of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs. Their efforts, supported by Prof. Yuosre Badir, Acting Dean of SOM, and Dr. Syed Muntasir Husain Bokhari, Project Specialist in SOM, culminated in the finalization of this agreement.

Prof. Badir expressed his gratitude to Prof. Shams for initiating this strategic partnership, emphasizing that it represents a shared commitment to broadening educational opportunities for students at both institutions. He added that this collaboration would provide students with valuable global perspectives and a competitive edge in the international workforce.

As AIT and EWU embark on this journey of partnership, we look forward to the promising future that lies ahead.
