AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li has been honored with the prestigious William and Francis Fry Honorary Fellowship (the Fry Award) for his contributions to therapeutic ultrasound by the International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU).

This lifetime achievement award is given annually to an individual with outstanding contributions to the field. Candidates are nominated by the ISTU symposium’s Organizing Committee and approved by the Board. Prof. Li received the award at the 23rd Annual International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound, held in Taipei, Taiwan, from September 19-22, 2024. ISTU is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 to increase and diffuse knowledge of therapeutic ultrasound to the scientific and medical community and to facilitate the translation of therapeutic ultrasound techniques into the clinical area for the benefit of patients worldwide.
Prof. Pai-Chi Li, a distinguished leader in electrical and biomedical engineering, is an IEEE Fellow, IAMBE Fellow, AIUM Fellow, and SPIE Fellow. Previously, he had won numerous awards, including the AIUM Joseph Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award, the IEEE UFFC Distinguished Lecturer Award, the IFMBE Otto Schmitt Award, and the IFMBE Vladimir K. Zworykin Award.
