10 January 2025: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has entered into a partnership with DigitalBlast, Inc. (DB), Japan, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10 January. This partnership aims to foster innovation in space research and development through collaborative initiatives such as joint research, knowledge-sharing events, and student internship programs.

The MoU highlights AIT and DB’s commitment to advancing technological frontiers, with AIT leveraging its academic diversity and research expertise to support DB’s work in space. The partnership also underscores the importance of engaging alumni networks to create opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and societal impact.
AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li noted the significance of establishing this partnership with DB, emphasizing the innovative and forward-thinking approach required for DB’s work in space. He expressed confidence that these efforts have the potential to contribute meaningfully to society. He also highlighted the connection fostered by an AIT alumnus and the importance of AIT’s engagement with its alumni, particularly young alumni, who bring fresh perspectives, diverse skills, and valuable networks. ‘This collaboration represents a promising step forward,’ he stated.


Mr. Shingo Horiguchi, CEO of Digital Blast, remarked on the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing DB’s identity as a young and vibrant community committed to contributing to the betterment of humanity. He expressed his pleasure in initiating discussions on human resource development and internship opportunities with AIT. Highlighting AIT’s role as a hub of diversity that unites nations through its academic programs and philosophy, he stated, “We are truly pleased and hope to foster a lasting friendship with AIT. We look forward to opportunities for collaboration and exchange in the future.”
Mr Horiguchi was accompanied by Mr. Takayoshi Machida, Vice President, Asia–Pacific and AIT Alumnus, and Dr. Ryuhei Hatanaka, Analyst.
Under the MoU, AIT and DB will collaborate to conduct activities such as providing internship opportunities for AIT students, faculty/expert exchange, and research collaboration in the areas of space technology.
From AIT the signing was attended by Prof. Nitin K. Tripathi, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Sangam Shrestha, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Co-Director of Global Water & Sanitation Center (GWSC); Prof. P.
