Prof. Yuosre Badir Appointed as the Dean of School of Management

1 January 2025:  The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Yuosre Badir as Dean of the School of Management (SOM), effective 1 January 2025. In this capacity, Prof. Badir will exercise the duties and responsibilities outlined in the Institute’s policies and regulations.

AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li congratulated Prof. Badir on his new role and encouraged the AIT community to offer their full support and cooperation.

Prof. Badir joined AIT in 2008 as an Assistant Professor in SOM, rising to Associate Professor in 2015 and Full Professor in January 2024. He has also served as Acting Dean, Associate Dean, and Faculty Director for the Ph.D. and DBA programs.

His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Management of Technology (2006) and an M.Sc. in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (2000), both from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He was a Visiting Scholar at New York University in 2005 and holds additional degrees including an M.Sc. in Project Management (1998) from the University of Putra Malaysia, as well as a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (1993) from the University of Benghazi, Libya.

Dr. Badir’s primary area of research has focused on innovation and technology-intensive SMEs in emerging markets, and his research interests include managing innovation (e.g., green innovation, open innovation, employee’ innovation), technology (e.g. disruptive technologies, low carbon technology assessment), and digital transformation. He has published his research in top peer-reviewed journals including, but not limited to, Research Policy, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management, IEEE-Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Technological Forecasting and Social Change, among others. He also co-edited several books, including the book series named Business and Management in Asia. He is a co-recipient of both the 2016 and 2017 ANZMAC Best Papers Award in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as the Best Paper Award from the international conference on Emerging Trends in Business and Economy: Mapping the Way Ahead, India, 2014.

As Dean, Prof. Badir will focus on enhancing SOM’s academic excellence, enriching the student experience, and strengthening collaborations with industry and partner institutions. Leveraging his extensive experience and leadership roles at AIT, he aims to drive innovation, expand SOM’s global reach, and promote interdisciplinary initiatives across AIT’s Schools and Centers to further align with the Institute’s transformative vision.
