On February 18, 2025, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Indorama Ventures Global Services (IVGS) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to enhance academic and industry collaborations. The agreement will enable IVGS to offer internship opportunities to AIT students and facilitate knowledge exchange between academia and the corporate sector.

As part of this MoA, IVGS will provide 3 to 4 months internship placements to AIT students from the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD), and the School of Management (SOM). Eligible students, starting from their second semester, will be selected for internships based on approval from their academic advisors to ensure they have a strong understanding of business operations.

Indorama Ventures Global Services (IVGS) is a part of the larger Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (IVL), a leading producer of a wide range of intermediate petrochemical products with the purpose of reimagining chemistry to create a better world. IVL operates across various business segments such as Combined PET and Packaging, Indovinya, and Fibers, serving customers in diverse growth markets, including food and beverages, automotive, pharmaceutical, textile, home and personal care, and agrochemicals. IVL’s footprint spans manufacturing operations at 117 locations in 31 countries with more than 26,000 employees and market-leading positions in Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.  In 2023, IVL recorded $15.6 billion in revenue.

Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Vice President of Academic Affairs, expressed his appreciation toward this collaboration and reflected on his 25-year journey in Thailand and witnessing Indorama’s remarkable growth under the leadership of Mr. Aloke Lohia. He emphasized that while AIT provides students with strong academic and research training, real learning occurs when students apply their knowledge in industry settings. Additionally, he highlighted that AIT is well-positioned to support research endeavors with our labs and professors’ expertise, and we are eager to explore further collaborations with Indorama Ventures. With the extended post-study work visa, AIT graduates can intern with Indorama Ventures for a year, providing them with industry exposure and potential career opportunities within the company.

Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Executive Director of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, expressed his gratitude to the Indorama Ventures leadership team, particularly Mr. Sanjay, Mr. Klaus, and Dr. Natnisha for their commitment to strengthening the partnership. He acknowledged AIT and Indorama Ventures’ long-standing cooperation not only through internships but also through collaborations with Indorama’s other units, such as the Indorama Ventures Foundation, which provides scholarships for AIT students. He highlighted that formalizing these internship opportunities is a step in the right direction and with students from over 30 countries, AIT’s diverse student body aligns well with Indorama’s global presence, making this partnership highly beneficial for both parties.

Mr. Sanjay Ahuja, Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer of Indorama Ventures, emphasized that by signing this MoA, we are entering into a meaningful partnership with AIT. He mentioned that “AIT students will gain valuable industry insights and real-world experience that will shape their future careers. By working together, we can create an environment where academic excellence meets industry expertise, equipping students with the skills and experience necessary to thrive. In today’s evolving landscape, staying connected with AIT students will also allow IVGS as a company to learn from the next generation of talent. This partnership is a testament to our shared vision of fostering growth, innovation, and leadership, and I look forward to the opportunities this collaboration will bring.”

Mr. Klaus Holz, former Chief Human Resources Officer of Indorama Ventures, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership by stating that this is a significant milestone as we come together to celebrate the signing of this MoA between AIT and IVGS, reinforcing our shared commitment to fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and professional development. Finally, on behalf of Indorama Ventures’ senior management, he extended appreciation to AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li and team for the dedication and vision in making this partnership possible and said that IVGS looks forward to a fruitful collaboration ahead.
