17 February 2025: Origgin Ventures Pte. Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Yi Chyi Lum and her delegation visited AIT on February 17, where they engaged in a roundtable discussion with AIT President Professor Pai-Chi Li and key officials.

A signatory of the Industry-Academia International Business Incubation Conclave, Origgin is renowned for its pioneering deep-tech venture creation, adeptly transmuting academic inquiry into commercial enterprises via its proprietary Venture Co-Creation (VCC®) framework.

During the roundtable, discussions delved into collaborative research initiatives with AIT scholars, prospective investment avenues in breakthrough technologies, and the establishment of internship programs. Both parties focused to identify and advance promising AIT projects. Both parties discussed how to turn university research into real-world products and companies. They talked about the whole process—from starting with research and protecting new ideas to planning, testing, and eventually launching a startup. They agreed that working together can help fill funding gaps and support busy professors, while also connecting with companies and investors in the region. In addition, they explored ways to offer internships and hands-on training for AIT students, so they can gain practical experience in turning research into market-ready solutions.

From Origgin Ventures, Mr Phusith Jitjaruek, Venture Creator was also present. The meeting was attended by Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs ; Prof. Anil Kumar Anal, Department of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources; Dr. Ekbordin Winijkul, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering; Prof. Manukid Parnichkun, Academic Program Chair Mechatronics and Machine Intelligence; Prof. Avishek Datta, Head of the Department of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources; Dr. Mongkol Ekpanyapong, Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering; Dr. Branesh Pillai, Assistant Professor of the Medical Engineering program; and Dr. Gopi Krishna, Affiliated Faculty at the School of Management and Coordinator of the Sponsored and Contracted Projects Unit.

Origgin created the Venture Co-Creation (VCC®) framework together with the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in 2017 to bridge the gap between research and commercial and unearth the hidden gems in research and development (R&D).
