18 February, 2025: The School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) hosted its Open House on February 15, 2025, welcoming over 150 prospective students from 32 universities. The event offered an immersive experience into SERD’s academic programs, cutting-edge research, and dynamic campus environment.

The Open House featured comprehensive presentations on SERD’s master’s and doctoral programs, scholarships, and student support services. Attendees explored the vibrant AIT campus, gaining firsthand insights into life at SERD.


A key highlight of the event was the opportunity for direct interaction with SERD Dean, Prof. P. Abdul Salam, alongside esteemed faculty and staff. Prof. Salam underscored the significance of such engagements in helping students make informed decisions about their academic journeys. He highlighted SERD’s diverse academic programs, pioneering research initiatives, and state-of-the-art facilities, while emphasizing the strength of SERD’s global alumni network in enhancing career prospects.

Participants enjoyed guided tours of SERD’s advanced facilities, providing a comprehensive view of various laboratories where innovative, student-led research is shaping the future of sustainability and development. The tours provided firsthand exposure to innovative technologies and projects, reinforcing SERD’s commitment to academic excellence and real-world impact. A visit to the smart library, equipped with advanced digital resources and collaborative spaces, further enriched their experience, showcasing AIT’s dedication to fostering knowledge, creativity, and interdisciplinary learning. Networking sessions facilitated valuable interactions between prospective students, current students, and faculty, offering deeper insights into academic life and future career.


The event was made even more engaging by dedicated student volunteers and MCs, who played a keyrole in ensuring a seamless experience. The day concluded with many eager participants taking AIT’s English Entry Test (EET) for admissions, reflecting their strong interest in joining the institute.


Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the lab visits and interactive sessions as standout elements. Several attendees expressed hopes for the Open House to become a recurring event, recognizing its impact in providing comprehensive information and fostering connections for prospective students.
