AIT and Camarines Norte State College, Philippines Formalise the Partnership

27 May 2025: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), Philippines, have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster academic and research cooperation between the two institutions. The agreement aims to establish a strategic partnership through joint academic programs, research initiatives, consultancy services, training, seminars, workshops, and other mutually beneficial activities.

Prof. Manukid Parnichkun, Vice President for Academic and Research at AIT, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. “The Philippines has long been a valued partner of AIT, and this collaboration marks a new chapter in our shared journey. We look forward to a strong and impactful partnership.”

Dr. Dolores C. Volante, Vice President for Academic Affairs at CNSC, shared her optimism about the collaboration. “We are deeply honored to initiate this partnership with AIT, a globally respected institution. This collaboration opens up brighter prospects for our institution and we are proud to begin this meaningful engagement.”

Dr. Maria Cristina C. Azuelo, Vice President for Administration and Finance at CNSC, added, “Our visit to AIT is truly significant, as this MoU represents a formal commitment to work together in promoting quality education, innovation, and global engagement. We are grateful for the warm welcome and excited for the journey ahead.”

Under the MoU, the partnership will include the development of capacity-building programs at the doctoral and master’s levels for CNSC faculty and staff, joint organization of conferences, seminars, and training programs, collaboration on research and consultancy services, as well as student training and curriculum development. Both institutions also agreed to explore additional areas of cooperation.

The CNSC delegation also included Engr. Aireen M. Babagay, Dean of the College of Engineering and Dr. Girly H. Naval, Extension Services Division Director. From AIT, attendees included Prof. Abdul Salam, Dean of the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); Dr. Ekbordin Winijkul, Department Head of WREE/SET and Associate Professor in EEM/WREE/SET; Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director of International Affairs, OIPA; Ms. Sarina Pradhan Thapa, Senior Program Officer, SERD Dean’s Office; and Ms. Kristina Thapa, Program Officer, SERD Dean’s Office.

CNSC is a public higher education institution in Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines. It was established to provide quality education primarily for students in the Bicol region and has grown to become a prominent academic institution in the area. CNSC offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs across several fields, including education, agriculture, business, engineering, fisheries, and information technology.
