26 May 2025: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Udon Thani Rajabhat University (UDRU), Thailand marking the beginning of a strategic academic partnership. The purpose of the MoU is to foster cooperation in academic programs, research, consultancy services, workshops and seminars, training, joint projects, and other collaborative activities.

Key areas under this MoU include the development of doctoral and master’s degree programs for UDRU faculty and staff, exploration of dual degree programs, and the organization of joint conferences, seminars, and training initiatives.

Speaking at the virtual signing ceremony, AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li remarked, “The partnership we are launching today is both meaningful and holds great potential. This collaboration was initiated by AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), and I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Dean Prof. Abdul Salam and his team for reaching out to UDRU to explore shared interests. With UDRU’s strong community engagement and its role as a regional hub in northeastern Thailand, and AIT’s international presence, this MoU sets a strong foundation for joint efforts in faculty development, academic exchange, research, and innovative educational programs. I am confident this partnership will bring lasting value to both our institutions and the communities we serve.”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Khanisara Thanyasunthornsakun, President of UDRU, also shared her remarks: “Today marks a significant milestone as we formalize our academic partnership. This MoU reflects our shared commitment to academic growth and internationalization. We believe this collaboration will foster knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and global opportunities for our students and faculty. On behalf of UDRU, we sincerely thank AIT for your dedication and partnership. We are confident this will lead to a strong and lasting relationship.”
