AIT Achieves Record Performance in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025

19 June 2025 — The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) proudly announces its best-ever performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, reaffirming its global leadership in driving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AIT achieved an all-time high overall score of 89.4 out of 100, placing it in the Top 101–200 out of a record 2,318 participating institutions worldwide.

AIT participated in 12 out of the 17 SDGs this year, securing Top 50 ranks in four SDGs and Top 100 in four others, reflecting the Institute’s commitment to impactful research, inclusive education, and sustainability leadership.

Highlights of AIT’s 2025 Global Rankings:

  • SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: Ranked 18th
  • SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: Ranked 19th
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Ranked 33rd
  • SDG 1 – No Poverty: Ranked 47th

Additional notable rankings:

  • SDG 14 – Life Below Water: Ranked 62nd
  • SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: Ranked 80th
  • SDG 15 – Life on Land: Ranked 96th
  • SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: Ranked 98th

AIT is also placed within the:

  • Top 100–200 for SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production)
  • Top 201–300 for SDGs 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action)

“This year’s strong performance reflects AIT’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and global engagement,” said AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li. “Our progress across key SDGs, particularly in SDG 2, SDG 16, and SDG 17, highlights the meaningful contributions AIT continues to make through education, research, and collaboration.”
