I come from the valleys of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, with a vision to create change beyond borders. When I joined the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on a fully funded scholarship under the gender component of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP), supported by the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Pakistan, I knew this journey would be about more than just earning a degree; it was a step toward becoming a global professional with purpose.

Since beginning my Master’s in Climate Change and Sustainable Development at AIT’s School of Environment Resources and Development in August 2025, my time at AIT has been truly transformational. Studying in Thailand has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life, both academically and culturally. AIT has expanded my knowledge, strengthened my goals, and connected me with a diverse global community.
The academic rigor and international exposure at AIT helped me align my climate advocacy with practical solutions. Living in the Student Village and sharing moments with friends has been equally special.
What sets AIT apart is its vibrant, multicultural environment, with over half of its students coming from outside Thailand. This global mix creates a dynamic environment for learning and growth. AIT challenges you to deliver, adapt, and thrive, even when things aren’t perfect.

Beyond academics, AIT has given me a strong sense of balance, belonging, and empowerment. I have been involved in organizing workshops, leading advocacy campaigns, and joining international climate discussions. These experiences have shaped me not just as a student, but as a person and a professional.
Writing journal articles was a key part of my academic growth, sharpening my writing and analytical skills. I have come to appreciate what our professors often say: completing assignments here prepares you for real-life challenges. At first, I wasn’t convinced, but now I understand how true it is. I have learned to adapt quickly and contribute meaningfully, no matter the domain.
Along the way, I have been humbled by international recognition. In January 2025, I received the Global Youth Action Ambassador Award from the United Nations in Kuala Lumpur for my grassroots work toward the SDGs. I also won First Place in the Global Goals Youth Action Competition for climate storytelling.
In May 2025, I was invited to the Asia Youth Green Summit in Jakarta, where I received the SDGs Youth Green Initiator Award. The summit was unforgettable. I joined Earth Day celebrations, participated in leadership training, worked on SDG-focused projects like mangrove restoration, and took part in the Green Action Speak-Up Competition, where I was recognized again as an SDGs Green Action Initiator 2025.

In June, I attended the Asia Global Youth Summit in Singapore and Malaysia, where I shared my ideas on global change and co-created solutions with fellow youth delegates. Out of over 1,000 applicants, I was among the Top 40 and received the ASEAN Global Youth Award. The summit centered around universal leadership and highlighted innovative ways to build a better world. As a delegate, I joined activities such as the Speak-Up Mechanism, where I delivered a one-minute speech on global change, collaborated on group projects to co-create impactful solutions, and celebrated youth contributions through the Global Inspiration Awards 2025.
My remote internship with the Pakistan Food System Dashboard (PSFD) added another meaningful layer to this journey. As a Data Analysis and Research Intern, I worked on developing and visualizing key indicators related to food systems, climate resilience, and nutrition. I also received training in AI, automation, and SAP, learning how tech can support sustainable development.
Thanks to AIT, I have had the chance to work across various domains and quickly adapt, with lateral thinking becoming second nature. The experience at AIT extends beyond academics; it prepares you to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact.
As I continue my journey as a climate advocate and researcher, I credit AIT for helping me turn my potential into purpose. AIT is more than an institution; it’s a launchpad for youth like me who dare to make a difference. I encourage students looking for institutions to pursue higher education to explore AIT’s programs as a gateway to meaningful growth.
