24 September 2025 – Nineteen professors from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) have been named among the world’s top 2% most influential scientists in the latest Stanford University rankings, released on 19 September 2025.

The Stanford University Top 2% Scientist Rankings celebrates researchers whose work has shaped their fields on a global scale. Based on indicators such as the h-index, citations, and a composite score, the rankings highlight both career-long achievements and research impact in the past year.
Dual Recognition for Career-Long and Single-Year Impact
Nine AIT professors earned recognition in both categories, reflecting their lasting influence and continued impact:
- Emeritus Prof. Dennes T. Bergado – Geological & Geomatics Engineering
- Emeritus Prof. Peter Edwards – Fisheries
- Emeritus Prof. Chettiyappan Visvanathan – Environmental Sciences
- Distinguished Prof. Joyashree Roy – Energy
- Prof. Phan Minh Dung – Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing
- Prof. Rajendra Prasad Shrestha – Agronomy & Agriculture
- Prof. Anil Kumar Anal – Food Science
- Prof. Shobhakar Dhakal – Energy
- Prof. Sangam Shrestha – Environmental Engineering
Career-Long Impact Recognition
