29 September 2025 – The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) proudly announces that its President, Prof. Pai-Chi Li, has received the 2025 IEEE UFFC Rayleigh Ultrasonics Award, the highest honor of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control (UFFC) Society in the field of ultrasonics.

Prof. Li was recognized for his exceptional contributions in the development of adaptive ultrasound imaging, photoacoustic molecular imaging, and shear wave elasticity imaging.

The Rayleigh Ultrasonics Award honors individuals with more than 25 years of sustained impact through innovation, research, education, and professional service in ultrasonics.

This distinction adds to Prof. Li’s long list of international accolades. In 2024, he received the William and Francis Fry Honorary Fellowship (Fry Award) from the International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU), a lifetime achievement award recognizing transformative contributions in therapeutic ultrasound.

A distinguished scholar in electrical and biomedical engineering, Prof. Li is a Fellow of IEEE, IAMBE, AIUM, and SPIE. His many honors include the AIUM Joseph Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award, the IEEE UFFC Distinguished Lecturer Award, the IFMBE Otto Schmitt Award, and the IFMBE Vladimir K. Zworykin Award. He has also been continuously ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists (career-long impact) by Stanford University.

AIT warmly congratulates Prof. Li on this outstanding achievement.
