Joint Partnership Brings Together AIT, CONNEX,  and Intermarc Global to Advance Innovation

6 October 2025 – A Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Connex Information Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (CONNEX), and Intermarc Global Pty Ltd (Australia) (IMG) on 6 October 2025.

The agreement aims to establish strategic cooperation in the areas of academics, research, professional development training, consultancy services, and other mutually beneficial activities. The delegates from both companies also paid a courtesy call to AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li.

Prof. Siddharth K. Jabade, Vice President for Administration and Development (VPAD), emphasized AIT’s commitment to advancing digital transformation and fostering strong academia-industry partnerships. He noted that the collaboration represents “a deep opportunity for shared growth and value creation,” highlighting that AIT, as a knowledge enterprise, seeks to work closely with industry to drive innovation and real-world impact.

Dr. Kiththi Perera, Executive Director of CONNEX Thailand, expressed that partnerships between academia and industry are crucial for co-creating solutions and accelerating technological progress. “This marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration in Thailand. Together, we can harness our combined knowledge base to develop impactful solutions and support research and innovation,” he said.

Mr. Dhammika Gunaratne, Managing Director of IMG, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, describing it as an important step in bridging the gap between academia and industry. He emphasized the potential of the collaboration to generate high-value outcomes, strengthen industry engagement, and deliver sustainable solutions for the future.

Under this MoU, AIT and CONNEX will collaborate on student engagement through internships and research on patented technologies, professional development programs in cybersecurity, and joint R&D to enhance cybersecurity resilience and develop surveillance solutions for public and private institutions in Thailand.

With IMG, the partnership will focus on professional training for commercial building operators, joint R&D on green building solutions to reduce carbon emissions, and the development of net-zero carbon frameworks based on best practices in Thailand and Australia. Both collaborations will also explore other potential projects of mutual interest.

The delegation from CONNEX included Mr. Kittipong Woraratpoka, Business Development Consultant; Mr. Payathai Kalyawongsa, Senior Business Development Manager and Ms. Sararat Chianman, Business Development Manager.

From AIT, the signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Abdul Salam, Dean SERD; Mr. Karma Rana, Institute Secretary; Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director of Office of International Affairs (OIA); Mr. Sanjeet Amatya, Director of Office of Communications and Public Affairs and  Dr. Indra Kumari, Senior Program Officer, OIA.
