Dr. Anish Ghimire, faculty member in the Environmental Engineering and Management program at the School of Engineering and Technology, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), successfully organized a two-day training workshop titled “Mastering Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): A Dynamic Training Workshop for Decision-Makers and Managers.” The workshop was held on December 18-19, 2025, at the AIT Conference Center.

The workshop featured sessions by LCA experts, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa from Mahidol University and Prof. Shabbir H. Gheewala from King Mongkut’s University of Technology, Thailand. Participants were welcomed by Dr. Ekbordin Winijkul, Head of the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering at AIT.

The workshop brought together 20 participants from different organisations and backgrounds. This included 10 environmental consultants from renowned firms such as Unique Environment and E Guard Environmental Services (Myanmar) along with representatives from the WASH Forum Bangladesh and AIT’s Global Water and Sanitation Center (GWSC) in Thailand. The group also included more than eight doctoral students and researchers, who actively engaged in the discussions and hands-on activities.
The primary objective of the workshop was to equip professionals and researchers with the knowledge and skills to apply Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools in decision-making. Participants learned how to access the environmental impacts of products and services across their entire life cycle by integrating LCA methodologies into their work. The training supports more informed decisions and encourages sustainable practices across organisations and areas of expertise.
Overall, the workshop provided a strong platform for learning and exchange, helping professionals and researchers build capacity to address environmental challenges with more informed decisions.
