Delegation from RCEES-CAS and Chinese Environmental Technology Firms Visits AIT to Foster Collaboration

11 December 2025 – The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), and leading Chinese environmental technology companies. Coordinated by AIT’s Belt and Road Research Center (BRRC), the high-level meeting aimed to strengthen existing ties and explore new avenues for collaborative research and innovation in environmental science and technology.

The visit began with a courtesy call on AIT President, Prof. Pai-Chi Li, who delivered welcome remarks emphasizing AIT’s commitment to international partnerships that addresses global sustainability challenges. He was joined by Prof. Manukid Parnichkun, AIT’s Vice President for Academic and Research.

The delegation was led by Prof. Chengzhi Hu, Deputy Director of the Eco-Environmental Research Center at RCEES, CAS, who expressed a strong interest to deepen institutional cooperation. The group included senior research professors from RCEES, faculty from UCAS, and executives from Guangwei (Zhongshan) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and Lihe Technology (Hunan) Co., Ltd.

Dr. Wenchao Xue, Director of the AIT BRRC and Associate Professor in the Environmental Engineering and Management program, organized and facilitated the meeting. She presented a brief report on the productive history of collaboration between AIT and RCEES, CAS, setting a positive foundation for the discussions.

The core of the meeting focused on strategic discussions for future collaboration. Key areas of mutual interest included joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, technology transfer, and potential partnerships in supporting sustainable development initiatives aligned with regional environmental priorities.

The synergy between AIT’s interdisciplinary expertise in sustainable development and the cutting-edge research from RCEES, combined with the practical innovation from industry partners, creates a powerful triad. This meeting was a significant step towards formalizing partnerships that can yield tangible solutions for environmental challenges in Asia and beyond.
