Dr. Bindu N. Lohani and Mrs. Sumana Lohani have generously supported the refurbishment of Room AB20 at the AIT Conference Center. Their contribution will help enhance the functionality and overall environment of the facility, ensuring that it continues to serve as an important facility within the AIT community.

Dr. Lohani, a distinguished alumnus, Vice Chairman of AIT Board of Trustees, member of the AIT Executive Committee, a 2019 inductee of the AIT Hall of Fame, and former Vice President of Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has long been a strong advocate for AIT’s mission to advance sustainable development and regional cooperation. Together with Mrs. Sumana Lohani, their support reflects their continued commitment to strengthening AIT’s facilities and learning environment.

AIT President Prof. Pai-Chi Li expressed sincere appreciation to Dr. and Mrs. Lohani for their meaningful contribution. President Prof. Li noted that Dr. Lohani’s lifelong connection to AIT as a distinguished alumnus, a member of the Board of Trustees, and a Hall of Famer makes this gesture all the more significant and inspiring. He highlighted that contributions such as this go beyond the physical improvement of a room; they send a powerful message to the entire AIT community about the importance of giving back and investing in the institution that has shaped so many careers and lives.

Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Executive Director, Development and External Affairs – Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs (DEA-OAAA), also extended his appreciation to Dr. and Mrs. Lohani for their contribution. He emphasized that the refurbishment of Room AB20 sets an example and inspire other alumni of AIT to similarly support the Institute’s ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure facilities to ensure that the AIT remains a world-class environment for learning, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

In recognition of their generosity, a commemorative plaque bearing the names of Dr. and Mrs. Lohani has been installed in Room AB20. The refurbishment will contribute to improving the Conference Center’s facilities.
