Speaker:     Dr.  Marut Buranarach Topic:         Overview and Research Opportunities in Data Governance, Open Government Data, and Knowledge GraphsAbstract:Data governance has become a foundational capability for data-driven organizations to ensure the quality and security of data assets. It is also essential for supporting regulatory compliance, enabling data sharing, and facilitating data-driven decision-making. This talk provides an overview of the key concepts and components of a data governance framework, including data lifecycle, data governance maturity models, policies, roles and responsibilities, processes, and related technologies. The talk also emphasizes the importance of data catalogs in data governance. In addition, this talk presents an overview of Open Government Data (OGD) concepts, with emphasis on the role of data catalogs and data governance in ensuring FAIR data access, data quality, metadata management, and machine-readable data to promote data reuse. Knowledge graph is one of the key technologies supporting data integration, semantic search, knowledge discovery, and decision support. This talk discusses the potential adoption of knowledge graph technology in various domains such as government, research, culture, and tourism. Finally, the talk outlines research and development opportunities in data governance, open government data, and knowledge graphs, including their enhancement through data analytics and artificial intelligence technologies.
